Where is the Media Gallery?

As of August 19th, “media gallery” will be replaced with “media library.”  The Center for Teaching and Learning in partnership with ITS evaluated a new video management system called Panopto for use in ClassesV2, Canvas and other platforms. This review demonstrated the system is able to handle large amounts of video data and files, while delivering a much higher quality video for the user, all within an easy to use system.

All content from Media Gallery is being migrated to Media Library and will be available to users by August 26th upon request. Please contact john.harford@yale.edu if you’d like access to your content or have questions. You can also call John at 203-432-8268.

This new system combines a video management platform and lecture capture system into one tool and helps us achieve our overarching goal: give faculty, departments, centers, and schools the ability to create and curate their own content.

The Media Library tool will be active in all new ClassesV2 courses, just as the Media Gallery was. Additionally, you’ll be able to use the same tool and content in Canvas or directly via the website, https://yale.hosted.panopto.com.

Help pages for the Media Library can be found here, and the report on panopto is located on the CTL website.
